Erik Chopin, who won the popular NBC series, The Biggest Loser Season 3, has gained back most of the weight he lost. The infamous deli owner recently revealed in an interview with Access Hollywood and Oprah Winfrey he gained 122 pounds back after losing an astounding 214. Chopin said that after all of the media attention went away he became sad and depressed and stopped exercising. He says that now that his weight is back over 300 pounds he is ready to get healthy again. He admits that yo yo dieting just doesn't work and this time he is not interested in a number but simply feeling good and being fit.
I think the important thing that this news exposes is that eating in and of itself is not really the issue. The deeper issue is WHY people overeat. You can lose all the weight you want, but if you don't address the root issue, the weight will come back. Like I have said before, some people use food as a drug. Binge eaters have endorphins released just like drug users do. Binge eaters eat to fill a void just like alcoholics and drug users "use." In order for binge or over eaters to get "clean" they have to change their way of thinking and figure out what they are substituting the food for. Sometimes I even think I need therapy...I would just feel sorry for whoever tries to analyze me.

I know isn't it awful for that fellow...I saw him on Opera.
I have to agree with you wholeheartedly,I know I'm one of those people who has an issue with food. Here is what my doctor said to me a few months back...it is difficult for someone like me because an alcoholic can stop drinking but we can't stop eating!! Or something to that effect...
Don't laugh...therapy isn't a bad idea I just can't seem to make the phone call!
I can't believe I've said all this........
Cheers
I know EXACTLY what you mean!! Your doctor is so right. On top of that, I think it is so difficult to change your mindset to Food for Fuel. I was thinking that maybe I will look into my insurance and see if they offer nutritional counseling or anything like that. Maybe that will get me moving in the right direction...
